Close1095 Steel
1095 steel is a high-carbon steel known for its exceptional hardness and ability to hold a sharp edge for extended periods. It is widely used in knives, swords, and cutting tools, making it a favorite among craftsmen and bladesmiths. With proper heat treatment, it achieves excellent strength and durability, making it ideal for high-performance applications.
Canvas Micarta
A composite material made from layers of canvas fabric impregnated with resin, resulting in a tough, durable, and grippy surface—especially when wet—making it ideal for knife handles. It offers a rugged, textured feel that improves with age and use, developing a unique patina over time. Known for its strength and resistance to moisture, chemicals, and impact, Canvas Micarta is a favorite among outdoor and tactical knife users.
Quinn Knives' take:
Kellen Heaton is one of our longtime customers at Quinn Knives, and one of the region's newest knifemakers. He hails from right here in Julian California, and we've been very impressed with his strong start as a bladesmith. This heavy-duty EDC is ready for whatever you want to throw at it, be it tactical or trail.
